Description: Remote sensing tools and data are regularly used to support the work done at Wolf Water Resources. Much of the work we do is geared towards floodplain reconnection. Two topics that may be of interest to the NORFMA community include:

• Vegetation and habitat monitoring using uncrewed aerial systems (drones) to inform design and monitor outcomes of floodplain reconnection projects
• Using relative elevation models as quantitative tools to gain cost efficiencies and pull insights forward in a floodplain reconnection project lifecycle

Both topics may resonate with folks or have some level of familiarity - we hope our application of these tools gets the wheels turning about the possibilities of remote sensing to provide another perspective on floodplain management and reconnection. 

Instructor: Alex McManus. Alex is the Geospatial Director at Wolf Water Resources, leading their use of geospatial processing and visualization technologies, relying on a diversity of experience in the utility, engineering, and environmental consulting industries. As the challenges of the watershed science and river restoration fields evolve, Alex recognizes the role that technology serves in performing planning and design work more cost effectively and in improving restoration outcomes.
